Are you next?

Hackney’s own Tall Buildings Strategy sets apart London Fields East Side as one of a  number of prime sites in Hackney for future “tall” development. Hackney’s planning  department are careful to state that this document is not yet approved policy- but  nonetheless it appears to be informing the future of Hackney’s skyline with alarming  weight and rapidity- and most importantly, without the consultation of any of  Hackney’s residents.

The Tall Buildings Strategy forms part of the evidence base to the Local Development  Framework (LBH’s policy document which will eventually replace the current Unitary  Development Plan).  It was undertaken by independent consultants on behalf of LBH.  The document is being used by developers to support proposals for tall buildings in  Hackney and residents should object to it.

If the tower on 22-44 London gets approval, then the precedent will be set for a whole  line of tower blocks around London Fields…
